Day 44 Niagara Falls

Today was a pretty fun day. A short drive to Niagara Falls and then the fun was on. The first stop was the visitor center to buy our Discovery Pass. This pass allowed us to do the Maid of the Mist boat tour, the Cave of the Winds walk, the Aquarium, the Discovery Center, a Trolley ride, and a Niagara Legends of Adventure movie. You can do them in any order, but that is how we did them aside from the trolley. We hopped on and off the trolley at a few different spots.

First was the Maid of the Mist boat ride. We all got our blue ponchos on and hopped on a boat with about 150 other people. The ride was kind of short, but really "cool." We rode past the American Falls, then up to the Horseshoe falls. We got a little wet near the American falls, but as we headed toward Horseshoe we got a lot more wet. It was also kind of hard to see. The spray from the falls made it feel like it was raining really hard. Not a lot of pictures could be taken because of all of the water and the lack of a waterproof camera. Its a good thing we had the ponchos or else we would have been soaked. It wouldn't have mattered though, because we came prepared with extra clothes in the van.

Gulls, and Gulls, and more Gulls...

Next we walked over to the Cave of the Winds tour. We had to trade out our sandals for some different sandals for the walk. It wasn't really a cave, but it was still cool. The wooden walkways and staircases get taken out and replaced each Fall and Spring. This is because there are tons of ice coming down the river and falls from the lake that would destroy the walkways. They have a place along the walkways known as the Hurricane Deck. I have never been in a Hurricane, so I can't compare, but it was pretty windy and watery. This is another area where you get really wet and also a place where you don a poncho (yellow this time).

We then walked around to the Horseshoe Falls area above the falls. It is really cool to be able to see 3 different views of the falls (above, beside, and base).  We hopped the trolley for a short trip to 3 sisters islands, then over to the Aquarium.

no singing on this one, luckily.

We wondered the Aquarium, the Discovery Center and then the Theater. They were cool, but not as cool as the other things. Dinner at Denny's and then back to the Hotel for some of our Chocolate that we designed/made at Hershey.

Things said or heard today:

Waiting in line for the Trolley there were a few people in front of us. The mom asked the girl if she wanted some water, and her reply was; "I can't drink water on an empty stomach."

Nakai says " I wish I could start this day at the beginning."

Sora's  new saying. "Bacon, your missing out on a whole lot of goodness."

Tomorrow we are starting to head back West. We are going to the Toledo area and probably be up late because we are going to try to see Despicable me 2 at a Drive In. It should be interesting.
