Drive to Bisbee Arizona this morning to see if we could get on the Queen Mine tour. For those that don't know the Queen mine here was one of the largest producers of Copper in the world. They mined over 8 billion pounds of Copper throughout it's time. They also mined Silver, Gold, Lead, and Zinc. We were able to get a tour that goes approximately 1500 feet into the mine. We donned a slicker, hard hat, and lights. As we headed into the mine on a cart driven by Jim, one of the old miners, we could feel the cool air coming out. The tunnel was narrow enough to touch the side walls with an outstretched arm, but not advisable. The tunnel was a balmy 47 degrees. We stopped after a short time to ascend some stairs to a stope. After looking at some of the malachite and some ghostly faces on the wall of headless Jon and his brother crooked nose we were off to another part of the mine. We saw some of the old air compressed drills, carts, a quad bike used by the boss, and various mining equipment. We then boarded our "train" to head back out of the mine. I have never been in a mine before, so I thought it was pretty cool. At the end I asked Nakai what he thought of it and he said "it was mine blowing."

Mileage for the day was 191 miles. Tomorrow we are off to Southern California. We are hoping to go to the Beach, LEGOLAND, and the San Diego Zoo.
